Madeleine Wren (she/hers)

Maddie is a senior at the University of Michigan studying Public Policy with a focus in Civil Rights Policy and a minor in History. She’s worked with the ACLU, U.S. Senate, Solitary Watch, and the U.S. District Court in Chicago, gaining experience in civil rights, legal research & advocacy, and strategic communications & marketing. Through optiMize, she co-founded Project Roots, a nonprofit initiative that develops trauma-informed workshops about healthy relationships and intimate partner violence for high school students. As a peer mentor, Maddie is excited to help participants sharpen their pitches, develop stakeholder engagement strategies, strengthen their writing, build communication and marketing plans, and think about their broader goals of social impact. Maddie joined optiMize to connect with a community of peers passionate about social change and discover new ways to make a difference, and can’t wait to hear about your project! Outside of optiMize, Maddie serves as President of Students Against Domestic Abuse and Co-President of the Michigan Institute for Progressive Policy. In her free time, you’ll probably find her reading fantasy novels, running (at a very average pace), or hanging out with her tuxedo cat, Napa.
